What African Snow will achieve.
With your support, African Snow will
- run in a large-scale tour across the UK, with 128 performances in some of the most strategic theatre venues
- challenge between 60,000 and 128,000 British theatregoers with the transforming power of the Gospel, conveyed through the story of John Newton and Olaudah Equiano
- reach thousands of schoolchildren through the work of the Riding Lights education department and the CMS youth team
- mark the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery with a powerful story told from a black perspective (the play draws on Olaudah's extraordinary autobiography)
- raise questions in the UK about current forms of enslavement and awareness of ways in which we can respond
- strengthen networks and create new partnerships between British charities, community groups, churches and individuals, in order to tackle present-day slavery and its underlying causes
- inspire and challenge us all to respond to the call to "set the captive free" from modern slavery.
