CMS Call to Pray 2007

"The road is life," said poet Jack Kerouac. "I am the road," said Jesus. In 2007, CMS hits the road, and we're inviting you to come with us and to make a special effort to unite in prayer on the journey.
In June the UK office of CMS is moving to Oxford. It's a huge task, and hard for staff - those who are moving with us and those who are moving on. We value your prayers.
But the physical move is not why we are calling you to renewed prayer for mission at this time.
As we move from the old imperial capital to the city of ideas, we reflect a changing world. The UK base will still be crucial - but it certainly won't be 'headquarters' of a British mission that is busy preaching Good News 'over there'. Now we are a global family, supporting each other as we each live as disciples of Jesus in our various local settings.
What has been seen as an organisation for supporting mission is becoming a 'community of mission service'.
This Lent, we are calling everyone who is part of that community to a renewed commitment to pray not just for CMS and world mission, but for a deeper discovery of God's call on their own lives and the life of the world.
Starting on Ash Wednesday and afterwards on the first Wednesday of each month, we call you to pray
for yourself - risking greater openness to God
for CMS - its desire to become a community that truly lives mission
for the Church - its worldwide struggles and opportunities
for the world - its need for peace and healing
We hope you will commit to pray monthly at least until the first Wednesday in October, the month of the official opening of the new CMS House in Oxford.
CMS is being renewed. Please do join us on the journey.
