Latest pictures - May 2005 Still talking peace: Betty Bigombe, formerly Government Minister for Pacification in the North, convinced the LRA number three, Brigadier Sam Kolo to come in from the bush. He was greeted with hugs by UPDF combatants after surviving a gunfight with Vincent Otii [sic], the second in command, over the terms of an amnesty offer by President Museveni. Kolo's surrender on 16 February brought elation and dismay. He was the chief spokesman for the LRA during the current peace negotiations - but it would now prove harder to reach Kony. Bigombe, a Catholic and mother of two children, is now a World Bank Consultant. [Photo: Lapido Media]

By contrast Katherine Akidi [pictured with reporter Jenny Taylor] lost everything when sparks from a cooking fire set fire to thatch - and 800 huts burnt down, including her own.
